FILM and media students from Dumfries Academy got stuck into a special effects workshop.
The session with Calum MacDonald from GIBBET SFX was funded by Screen Scotland to widen opportunities for pupils to learn about aspects of careers in film and media, such as ‘sfx’
There was the chance to learn about techniques, including creating animal scratches or injuries from clay, using liquid latex and moulds, as well as fake blood.
Another activity showed them how to create a burn with latex, oats and paint.
Pupil Summer Smith said: “These were very fun to make and also looked really realistic and gory.
“We all had a lot of fun taking part in this workshop and we learned a lot about SFX. This was a good experience and we are grateful we got to be a part of this. Thanks to Cal and Screen Scotland for making it possible.”
