CLEANING work at the much loved Burns statue in Dumfries has been completed.

The marble sculpture, which was unveiled in 1882, is a tribute to the national poet of Scotland who lived the latter part of his life in Dumfries.

Residents were upset earlier this year at the state of the statue and that prompted the council to get it cleaned.
