Going dotty for Dahl

THE Twits, a giant peach, chocolate creations and whizz poppers.

These are just some of the magical ingredients from Roald Dahl’s hit stories – and they were also some of the elements at a special event in Dumfries celebrating the author on Saturday and Sunday.
Moat Brae House hosted a Roald Dahl 100 weekend, organised by the Peter Pan Trust to mark what would have been the storyteller’s centenary birthday.
And the fun and games attracted scores of families and Dahl fans.
They enjoyed catching fizzy lifting bubbles, a Scumdidliumptious Sticking Space, pin the tail onto Fantastic Mr Fox, guess the books in the Roald Dahl Clue Boxes, Ucky-Mucky Arty fun with Wee Blethers, Revolting Rhymes and Ridiculous Riddles with Renita Boyle, sweet creating in The Wonka Inventing Room and chilling out in the Phizzwhizzing Twinkly Thoughts Room.
A Moat Brae spokeswoman said: “This event successfully attracted over 520 visitors of all ages from babies to grandparents, the biggest turn out at any Moat Brae event so far.”
