RESIDENTS of Annan Court Care Home were havin’ a blast last Friday as their Grease-themed “drive-in” movie night kicked-off.
The spirit of John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John electrified the care home — and left chills multiplying.
Attendees pulled on wigs and sunglasses, dug-out leather jackets, fresh white tees and hot pink trousers, going full 70s style for the screening, where American diner-style popcorn, burgers and fries were served to accompany the classic flick.
Activities coordinator June Fitzpatrick said: “There’s some people that haven’t been eating that well, but they finished everything and I joked with the chef saying we’ll have to feed them rubbish more often. They absolutely had a great time. It was fun, with lots of participation, lots of laughter.
“For some of our residents, it won’t have been something they’ve seen before, but they really liked it. People were laughing, socialising, talking to each other.
“Of course I was singing along very badly but they let me away with that.
“With the drive-in movie, people were in their own chairs and there was spacing so it can be done safely and still they had a great time.
“We’re not having entertainers in at the moment because we’re not allowed. For me it’s all about the residents, so I think it was money well spent.”
The only downside of the day was that it happened too fast — but June added that following Friday’s success, another film fiesta is in the works for Annan Court.
