GET creative and you could win a copy of a cartoon book.

Annan artist Jack O’Hara is the creator of the Diary of A Scotty Dog series and he wants to see the region’s youngsters unleashing their creativity.

And in return, he’s giving away three copies of one of his books, above, to the best three inventions.

Jack said: “I am asking children to design their own mini story in a cartoon strip format to win a prize.

They can invent their own characters – maybe based on themselves, their family/ friends or pets? Maybe even inventing a superhero or two!”

Explaining more about what to include, he added: “Cartoon strips can have speech bubbles or some kind of movement.

“Make your characters say something funny or come to life with action or activity. Cartoon strips are like mini stories, i.e. they have a beginning, a middle and an end.”

Jack has written ten Scotty Dog adventures to date, with four of them published so far: Highland Fling, Cactus-Joe, Hot Dog and Picture Book.

Email your finished cartoons to [email protected] by February 28. Please include your name, age and where you live. Younger children can design a cartoon character instead of a full story strip. Terms and conditions apply.
