His north Cumbrian kennel’s first entry, two-year-old Magic Dizzy, pulled away in the Stewartry Sprint Stakes to win at 2/1 by two lengths.

Next home was Hizzy, a two-year-old, owned and trained by veteran Hawick trainer Rab Hyslop.

The trophy was presented to Mark Little by representatives of a teaching staff party from Castle Douglas High School on a night out at ‘the dogs,’ deputy head Joyce Harvey and geography teacher Brian Henderson.

Next success for the Little kennels was in the following sprint race when another 2/1 shot, Magic Mac held on to win by .75 of a length from Willie Hyslop’s Kilmarnock challenger Rapture.

Other notable performances came from Gretna regular Tony Hopper’s Flaming Patsie which won the 7.45 sprint trip by four lengths and his other entry Flaming Bird, which won the 9.00 middle distance race by an impressive eight lengths.
