GREYHOUNDS: Danny's daring border double

BORDER greyhound Danny Boy notched up his second successive sprint victory at Gretna greyhound racing on Friday night.

The plucky three-year-old dog, owned and trained by Basher Carmichael and Tina Robinson of Greenmill, Longtown, led from the first bend for a comfortable win.

He finished an impressive three lengths in front of fellow 2/1 shot Macca Black, a two-year-old dog entered by regular Gretna trainer Dave Bowes.

There was a triple triumph for Kirkbride-based owner-trainer Dexter Clark.

His three-year-old dog Claire’s Pet; two-year-old bitch Rose Mary and three-year-old dog Cobweb all won over the 280 metres trip.

Details of the festive season racing programme at Halcrow Stadium have been revealed.

There will be racing as usual this Friday followed by trials on Tuesday December 22 but no meeting on Friday December 25, Christmas Day.

The final race meeting of the year will be on Tuesday December 29 with trials resuming on Tuesday January 5 and the first race meeting of 2016 on Friday January 8.
