Tina Robinson and Basher Carmichael from Mill Hill, near Longtown, notched up their first sprint victory of the evening in the 8.15 race when Danny Boy cruised home comfortably to win by three lengths.
He was followed home by Kayla’s Dream, a three-year-old dog from Francis Hill’s Hawick kennels.
The Robinson – Carmichael kennels took top honours next in the 9 o’ clock trip over the same distance.
Their three-year-old bitch Tina’s Fault maintained an early lead to win by 2.75 lengths in front of Denbie, a Stranraer schooled two-year-old now owned and trained by Cath Lister from Aspatria.
Among the race-goers at Halcrow Stadium on Friday night were owner-trainers from Cork in the Irish Republic, who wanted to sample a meeting at the south of Scotland and Cumbria’s only greyhound racing venue.
They said they enjoyed the night’s racing and ‘the crack’ before returning home suitably impressed to the country with arguably one of liveliest greyhound racing and breeding scenes.
