GREYHOUNDS: Sprint glory for Wiggy's Black

FANCIED Cumbrian greyhound Wiggy's Black led from the first bend for an impressive victory in the opening sprint race at Halcrow Stadium, Gretna on Friday night.

The two-year-old dog, priced 6/4, from the Wiggins kennel at Kirkbride, powered home with a comfortable 3.5 lengths lead on the line.

Runner-up was Kirkbride entry, Katrina, a 4/5 shot from a neighbouring kennel.

In a good night of Cumbrian entries, Betty’s Boy, a four-year-old dog from Jimmy Hucknall of Workington, also achieved a sprint victory over the 280 metres trip.

He finished three lengths ahead of Dexter Clark’s two-year-old bitch Tears.

The Clark kennels later took top spot in a 470 metres race when Whack won by more than a length.
