The village hall committee are launching First Friday Films on October 4. They have joined forces with Driftwood Cinema to host a series of monthly screenings, with events planned for all ages. And it will kick off on the first Friday in October with comedy Fisherman’s Friends (certificate 12) at 7.30 pm. The bar will be open and refreshments will be available.
Future films will include the classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in November, Scottish film Beats in December, family friendly Dumbo in January, comedy The Shiny Shrimps in February and Beatles inspired Yesterday in March. All welcome, subject to the film’s certification.
Waterbeck’s village hall was recently subject to a substantial makeover and revamp, funded by windfarm monies from the Dumfriesshire East Community Benefit Fund and the movie nights are part of a programme of events designed to increase usage. There are also family friendly exercise to music classes every Wednesday night.
