Hannah buzzing with first goal

SCORING his first professional goal will live long in the memory for Jack Hannah.

The Queen of the South centre back headed home the leveller against Inverness. And Hannah played a key role in the victory.

Hannah said: “It’s my first goal in professional football, it’s a big moment for me.

“Obviously to contribute to the team is the main thing but it’s a special moment.

“I actually thought the centre back was going to clear it off the line but it just sneaked over.”

The young on-loan Middlesbrough defender has had to take more of a leadership role at the back since the injuries to captain Matty Douglas, Jack Brydon and Mikey Hewitt.

This has meant Hannah pairing up with midfielder Reece Lyon at the heart of the Queens defence.

But Hannah insists it has been a breeze guiding the vice captain.

He added: “Reece has fitted in seamlessly. He’s been class and looks like he’s been playing at the back all his career.

“The gaffer asked a lot more of me with communication and organising the defence. He’s put a lot of trust me but I need to keep going.

“Now we’re in fourth, it’s in our hands to make the play-offs but we need to keep winning.”
