Hardip reflects on amazing day

ANNAN businessman and deputy lord lieutenant Hardip Atwal BEM still can’t believe he was at the King’s Coronation.

He described it as a ‘fantastic weekend’ and said: “Being in Westminster Abbey was just amazing, the atmosphere was absolutely amazing and I had a good seat. It was a moment in history that I was lucky to attend, I was truly honoured to be there.”

He was five rows back and saw all the royals arriving and leaving, as well as the procession of Crown Jewels.

“Seeing all the Royal Family walking by was my favourite bit,” he said. “Everything was lovely, the music, the bands, the choir, it was surreal. I saw Prime Ministers and world leaders – and Ant and Dec were just across from me!

“It was like a dream, I did not believe I was actually there. It was magical, I loved every minute of it.

“I joined in the pledge to the King and singing the National Anthem. It really was a dream come true and such an honour to be asked. I hope I represented the town well.”

And he thanked the community for their support and well wishes – and is still replying to messages.
