ALMOST 3000 people in South Scotland are studying for higher qualifications at the Open University.
The statistics show that the institution is currently helping 2935 people locally to study part-time and flexible higher education.
And 73 per cent of students combined work and study with the OU in the 2020/21 period.
The impact of the OU on education has been recognised and praised by SNP MSP Emma Harper.
She said: “Open University Scotland offers an opportunity for people of any background, age, income and situation, to develop their learning with social justice at the core of the organisation’s values.
“Their flexible working, funding and payment plans enable thousands of people to study who otherwise may be unable to. I commend their work on this.
“Almost 3000 people across South Scotland are accessing education opportunities with the Open University Scotland.
“I encourage any constituent interested to take a look at what the OU has to offer.”
