Harriers team in Annan RoM race
ROM RACE . . . the Dumfries Harriers members who took part in the Annan Riding of the Marches 5k race

THE Dumfries Harriers travelled to Annan last Tuesday night for Annan and District Athletic Club’s Riding of the Marches 5km race.

A strong contingent from the Harriers turned out in force to support the race, delivering some outstanding performances and showcasing their commitment to the local running community.

The popular local event is set on a flat, fast course weaving along the scenic Solway and Annandale Way near Newbie.

Leading the way for the Harriers was Donna Davidson, who ran a superb time of 22:48 to secure an impressive second place overall in the female category.

Carol Elliot followed with a determined run of 24:35; while Cole Nish, a recent graduate of the Harriers’ Couch to 5K programme that concluded just last week, made an excellent debut in his first race for the club, finishing in a fantastic time of 25:03.

Tina Roscoe crossed the line in 25:54, just ahead of her mother, Olga McCready, who finished strongly in 26:00.

Lynn Goodwin broke the 28-minute mark with a time of 27:58, closely followed by Gordon Patterson in 28:16 and Christine Proudfoot in 28:37.

Helen Anderson dipped under the 30-minute barrier with a time of 29:44, and Jane Lenza rounded out the Harriers’ efforts with a commendable finish of 32:36.

Congratulations to all participants for their fantastic efforts and for supporting this well organised event, with special recognition to Donna Davidson for her outstanding achievement and to Cole Nish for an impressive first race performance following the completion of the C25K programme.
