Head to the glens

A PROGRAMME of summer events and activities for people of all ages has been launched by the Galloway Glens Scheme.

Running until August, they offer opportunities to explore the Galloway countryside and the heritage of the area.

More than 20 varied events are going ahead in the coming weeks, including walks through local woodlands, a bus tour of Galloway’s lost wells, a family nature trail, a walking tour of Castle Douglas and a tour of the Woodhead Lead Mines.

The programme is being overseen by Helen Keron, Galloway Glens education and community engagement officer, who said: “It’s so exciting to be able to plan these small-group outdoor events again, allowing us to reconnect with our communities and our landscape.

“Thanks very much to all our partners, who have put on an amazing array of events that explore the breadth and depth of our Galloway Glens heritage. We look forward to seeing you at some of them!”

Details of all events and how to book are listed at www.gallowayglens.org/events/.
