Hectic bidding for hilltop water tower

THERE was hectic bidding for an Annan landmark during an auction in Glasgow on Wednesday.

The disused Water Tower looking over Back of the Hill and offering panoramic views of the Solway and Lake District sold for more than three times the guide price.

SVA Property Auctions report a great deal of interest for the unusual property which prompted bidders, including four present in the saleroom

Spokesman Shaun Viggers said: “Bidding started at around £2,000 to £3,000 and went up in thousand pound increments to £13,000, going to a purchaser in the local Annan area.”

He added that he understood that seller Scottish Water had been delighted with the level of interest in the property which had a pre-sale guide price of £4000.
