Holiday home award joy

A HOLIDAY home owner is celebrating after picking up a national award for her property.

Carolyn Hamilton scooped silver in the Best in Scotland category for her 1800s converted woollen mill in Brydekirk.

North Lodge took home the trophy at the Sykes Gem Awards – a national travel awards programme run by leading UK holiday rental firm, Sykes Holiday Cottages. Carolyn bought North Lodge in 1997 and, for almost 15 years, it was an adored family home, seeing all three of Carolyn’s children grow up. Within this time, the property was renovated and transformed into a comfortable and spacious home, while still maintaining the traditional features of the 200-year-old house.

When Carolyn, husband David and their family had to relocate to central Scotland for the family business, they decided to keep the property and let it out as a holiday home. Set over three floors with three large bedrooms and extra pull out beds, North Lodge sleeps 10 guests, and with an enclosed garden, and is dog friendly.

Carolyn said: “So much effort goes into making North Lodge a success and we are also fortunate that we’ve formed great working relationships with a small team of local businesses as well. “We actively seek out feedback from our guests and getting an award like this really does mean a lot. The trophy will be given pride of place in the house.”
