Hollywood star surprises Annan shopkeepers

ANNAN businesses were left starstruck this week after a visit from a famous Scottish actor.

James Copeland MBE, known professionally as James Cosmo, visited several businesses in the town on Saturday.

The Hollywood star dropped into the Annan History Town Pop-Up Shop and Crop to Shop greengrocers on the High Street, among others, causing a flurry of excitement.

Leslie Hornby, the owner of Crop to Shop, was delighted to meet and chat with Cosmo. see right. He said: “It took me a second to recognise him.

“He came in and said he had an interest in the local produce, I think he had already been to a few other shops in the High Street.

“He said he was visiting from Sanquhar between filming for a new project, and apparently he took a liking to Annan.

“I got a picture with him, too. He was a really down-to-earth person, very kind and polite.”

And the actor could become a familiar sight around town after revealing to Leslie that he is looking to buy a holiday home here.

The 74-year-old started his acting career in 1965 and has performed in over 200 different film and television roles, including hit films such as Braveheart and Highlander, as well as TV roles in Game of Thrones and he was even a finalist on Big Brother in 2017.
