ANNAN Harbour Action Group have been recognised in the Scottish Parliament after launching their first farmers’ and producers’ market.
The market was held on May 20 at the harbour quayside, and allowed traders and craft-makers to bring the best of local food, drink and creative products to sell.
Group project manager Alan Thomson has now received a letter from South Scotland MSP Emma Harper revealing that their work was recognised through a motion that she submitted to parliament.
Emma said: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Annan Harbour Action Group for its first farmers’ market.
“I submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament congratulating AHAG and recognising that producers markets such as the one in Annan give customers confidence in quality and provenance, while reducing food miles and supporting local businesses and economies.
“Annan’s place in Scotland’s history is recognised for its trade and shipbuilding, and we wish to congratulate AHAG on its ambitious efforts to renew and renovate the quayside.
“We wish everyone in the action group all the best for the future, and we encourage visitors and residents to visit the market on the third Saturday of each month.”
