Holywood wins bonspiel

DUMFRIES Ladies section hosted the 21st Barbours’ Bonspiel at Dumfries Ice Bowl, with 40 curlers taking part in an exciting day of curling.

Department store director Colin Barbour attended to watch some of the action and present the prizes for what has become one of the most popular events in the curling calendar at the ice bowl. The ladies attended for refreshments in the morning, followed by a session of curling before lunch and then another round of curling. All the teams then stayed on in the curling lounge for drinks, a raffle and the prize giving, pictured above.

The winners of the 21st Barbours Bonspiel were Holywood Curling Club, with the team skipped by Rosemary Lenton and featuring Gweneth Graham, Jenni Parkin and Karen Hastings. Runners up were Crocketford Curling Club, with a team skipped by Anne Johnstone and featuring Fiona Hardie, Caroline Donaldson and Susan Radley.

The ladies section now looks forward to running a fashion show, in partnership with Barbours, on March 19.
