SOUTH Scotland has recorded a rise in homelessness between 2020 and 2021.
Between April and September 2020 there were 348 households assessed as homeless and a year later, between April and September 2021, there were 378.
This is a nine per cent increase, which is one of the highest rises across Scotland.
South Scotland MSP Colin Smyth said: “These stark figures must be a wake-up call for the SNP, who have buried their heads in the sand for too long.
“Even one household without somewhere to live is one too many.”
