Hoops young guns fight off Gretna scare

Gretna FC 2008 1-4 Celtic B

The Anvils were in a buoyant mood on Saturday following their win against Edinburgh University in their last outing.

And the hosts took the lead through a Russell Currie penalty to sense a shock was on the cards. However, an own goal brought things level before half-time.

In the second half Bruno Davidson, Tsoanelo Letsosa and Matthew Anderson all scored for Celtic B to give the away side the three points.

Things got off to a brilliant start when the homeside took the lead on two minutes after Currie was fouled inside the Celtic box. He converted the penalty into the top corner of the net to give Gretna the lead.

However, Celtic B began to take a foothold in the game mid-way through the first half after the water break and they equalised from an own goal and the teams went into the break level.

Not long into the second half Celtic B eventually went in front when Davidson tapped home from close range.

Long periods of Celtic possession followed and Gretna were unable to find an outlet after Currie had went off injured in the first half.

With minutes remaining Letsosa smashed the ball into the top right corner from 25 yards out for Celtic B. Then in the final minute Anderson slotted home a fourth for the visitors.

Gretna now have a week off from league duty and Cambuslang Rangers will visit Raydale Park in the South Challenge Cup.
