Hospital CV19 outbreak

AN outbreak of Covid-19 has halted visiting on a mental health in-patient ward in Dumfries.

A total of nine positive cases of the virus have been confirmed across staff and patients in Cree Ward at Midpark Hospital.

Measures were swiftly put in place by NHS Dumfries and Galloway, to complete rapid testing of all patients and staff, along with a deep clean within the hospital.

At this time, Cree Ward has been closed to new admissions and routine in-patient visiting.

A spokesman for the health board said explained the situation will be reviewed regularly, with an aim to open up admissions and visiting as early as possible.

Amid ongoing cases of covid within the local community, a reminder has been issued of the importance of following current rules and guidance.
