Hospital rallying cry

WIGTOWNSHIRE residents are being urged to attend the latest consultation about Newton Stewart’s cottage hospital later this month.

A number of in-person drop-in events planned as part of the consultation on options for four cottage hospitals in the region, including Newton Stewart, had to be postponed until after July’s General Election.

Now a rallying cry has been issued by Galloway Community Hospital Action Group who say that the consultation event at McMillan Hall on Wednesday August 21 is a ‘now or never’ opportunity to show the value of cottage hospital.

A spokesperson said: “Come to the McMillan Hall in Newton Stewart on 21st August and let the health board know how much you value our cottage hospital!

“The board are now about to embark on a consultation programme regarding cottage hospitals and will be at the McMillan Hall on 21st August from 3-7 pm.

“Please can as many of you as possible attend and let them know how much you want your cottage hospital back in Newton Stewart! It’s now or never!”
