Hunt for anti social youths

YOUTHS who carried out anti social behaviour, including lighting camp fires, at a cafe, fishery and garden centre in Moffat at the weekend are being sought.

Five youngsters were caught on CCTV at The Green Frog at Hammerlands on Saturday.

After entering the site unauthorised, they were then seen on camera in and around the property, making a mess and also going into various buildings.

Staff at the Green Frog say the young people removed smoke detectors and they found evidence that they had also attempted to start fires in the plastic polytunnel and in a toilet block.

This has sparked concern due to the proximity of a timber yard and the potential consequences.

The youths’ actions have been slammed on social media as ‘shocking’, ‘out of order’ and ‘despicable’.

The incident has been reported to the fire service and police and officers are investigating. CCTV is being checked in a bid to try and identify those responsible.

Anyone with information should call police on the 101 number.
