Second day of hunt for missing man

THE search continues in Dumfries today for a "vulnerable man" who went missing from a hospital facility in the town yesterday - with the public being warned not to approach him.

Police are still looking for Abdelnabi Alainani, pictured, after he absconded from the Midpark unit, where he is a patient.
Abdelnabi, 30, is described as being of Asian appearance, skinny build, about five foot seven tall with short curly hair. When last seen he was wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans and trainers.
CCTV images showing him in Dumfries yesterday have been released and any further sightings should be reported to police, however officers stressed that he should not be approached.
Inspector Rory Caldow, of Police Scotland, said: “We have been carrying our a large scale search for the man since he was reported missing just after 12.30 pm.
“We did have early concerns that he may have been in possession of a knife, however we understand that this is not now the case.
“Mr Nabi is a vulnerable missing man and our concern for the safety of the public centres around the uncertainty of his reaction should he be approached. We ask the public to be vigilant and report any sightings, without making an approach to him, on the 101 number.”

More information has emerged about the hunt. Posting on social media, a police spokesman this morning confirmed they would continue patrols today and said: “We initially believed Abdel to be in possession of a knife, however during our searches we recovered the knife near to the Midpark unit.

“Further enquiries suggest he may try to make his was to Glasgow and there have been no confirmed sightings of him since Tuesday afternoon.”
