Ice cool business for Lockerbie

A YOUNG cafe boss is hoping to put Lockerbie Ice Rink on the map.

Jodie Mason has taken over the cafe area within the town’s iconic rink to create Jodie’s.

Though just 23, Jodie has an extensive background in the food industry, learning the trade at both the town’s Cafe 91 and Townhead Hotel.

Excited to start her first business, she said: “Many successful curlers started their curling career here so I’m hoping that this will be the start of my career within the food industry.”

She added: “My aim is to attract people that may not know that much about the ice rink and who have never really thought about popping in. The rink has loads to offer for all ages!”

Jodie is taking on three staff when she opens on Monday and she has plans for expansion in the future too.

She said: “I want to be known for my good food and brilliant service from my girls.

“In the future I want to be able to extend and have some food vans for events.”

Jodie’s will offer a modern menu featuring the best in milkshakes, sharer desserts, waffles, smoothies, wraps and more.
