Initiative is no more

A GROUP which has worked to enhance Lochmaben over the last 21 years has wound up.

Lochmaben and District Community Initiative held a special meeting last Thursday evening to officially dissolve the group.

At the meeting the committee members acknowledged the ‘significant contribution’ made to the royal burgh community since the initiative’s inception shortly after the millenium.

In accordance with the group’s constitution, it was agreed at the meeting that its financial assets would be distributed for the benefit of other groups in the royal burgh

It was decided that the Castle Loch Lochmaben Community Trust would receive the largest sum, of £4000, the Lochmaben Heritage and Community Trust was allocated £1000 and the remainder will go to the Royal Burgh of Lochmaben and District Community Council, approximately £925.
