Irish afternoon went down a treat

LOCHARBRIGGS Community Centre was buzzing with energy during an Irish-themed afternoon of music, song, and dance on Sunday.

A crowd of 171 attendees enjoyed lively entertainment and festive treats, making the event a resounding success.

Regular musicians William McRobert and George Meikle on accordions, accompanied by Ian McRobert on drums, kept the upbeat atmosphere going.

Centre chairman John Caskie, above, added to the fun with a mix of Irish and Scottish songs and a few light-hearted jokes that had the crowd laughing. Guest artist Gwen Adair delighted the audience with beautiful Irish songs, stepping in after Lee McQueen was unable to perform due to injury.

Attendees were treated to Guinness (both alcoholic and alcohol-free), Irish whiskey, and soft drinks, along with homemade cupcakes decorated in Irish themes, shortbread, and biscuits served during the interval.

A raffle featuring over 70 donated prizes added to the excitement before the music, song, and dance resumed. John Caskie thanked the LCCA committee and volunteers for their hard work, while Moira Shearer praised John and his team for ensuring a memorable afternoon.

The event raised £801 for the Locharbriggs Community Centre Association.

The next event, Easter family prize bingo, is set for Friday April 18, at 7.30 pm, featuring bingo, Easter-themed prizes, and competitions.
