A plan to extend Bankfoot House care home by creating an extra six bedrooms will see Moffat Academy’s former head, Jeff Brown, get on his bike in a 20 mile charity ride from Moffat to Lockerbie this Saturday.
The home’s board of directors committed £370k to see the £640k project, which will create five jobs, realised.
Ongoing fundraising efforts have so far raised £148k.
However, chairman of the board, Adam Anderson was disappointed that last week the Annandale and Eskdale Area Committee turned down the group’s bid for £10k, awarding them nothing. But he was happy to receive £7000 from Clyde Windfarm and community efforts are still ongoing, with the ladies dart team recently donating £115.
Meanwhile, a contractor for the extension will be appointed in mid April, with work set to start on Monday May 8.
