READY FOR ROM . . . riding of the marches chairman Stuart Thompson

That was the message from the Annan Riding of the Marches chairman Stuart Thompson ahead of the town’s big day tomorrow, July 5.

He is calling for as many people as possible to come out and support Saturday’s events.

An exciting parade, beginning at 12.30 pm, is set to feature three pipe bands.

The ‘Afternoon at the Academy’, from 1.45 pm, has a whole host of activities lined up.

And the grand finale – the massed pipe bands – on the High Street at 6.15 pm, promises to be as spectacular as ever.

Stuart said: “Plans are well afoot for the massed pipe bands. There will be more bands than last year, so it will be a tremendous spectacle.

“There will be a full and varied programme up at the field in the afternoon. There’s the Mini Highland Games, where kids can come and get goody bags, courtesy of Tesco and Aldi, and lots more going on. We are hoping to see as many people as possible up there.

“Three pipe bands are taking part in the parade. And we are looking forward to as many kids taking part as possible.

“We believe there’s some big entries taking part. You can enter the parade on the day, just turn up at Standalane.
“We are also hoping for as many visiting principals as possible.

“People are not to be put off by the weather forecast, it doesn’t look terribly bad.

“We hope as many people as possible come and take part in Annan Riding of the Marches 2025.”

On Friday night free children’s entertainment is also returning for the first time in a number of years,

At the High Street tonight you can see Douglas the Clown on the stage from 6.45 pm.
