JOSH Hunter, of Doonhamers Amateur Boxing Club, triumphed at Ravenscraig Sports Centre, Motherwell last month as he was crowned Scottish Elite Champion.
The young boxer was in attendance at the prestigious Elite Scottish Championships 2025 boxing tournament.
Josh was up against last year’s silver medallist in the final bout.
This was his first senior contest after moving up from youths to seniors in January.
Josh boxed a trio of three minute rounds against his opponent and showed great skill from start to finish, boxing and movement around his opponent with fast hand speed and unbelievable footwork.
There was a lot of support from Dumfries with a number travelling up to watch him win his third Scottish title and his first Senior Scottish Elite Title, becoming only the second person in Dumfries to achieve this feat since the 1980s.
Proud head coach Anne Armstrong said: “Josh has not only won this title but his past year has been full of titles – from the Manchester Box Cup and William Wallace Box Cup Youth Champion in 2024.
“He has trained at the club for 12 years and never gave up on his dream.
“He’s a young man who dedicates himself to every session, every week, and travels all around the country with his coach to fulfil his boxing journey.
“Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel as a coach.”
