Ruairi Lockerbie and Lewis Houston completed thorough tests and trials, on and off-ice, to make the cut.
They will travel to Madrid in April, where they will face France, Germany, Poland, Hungary and hosts Spain.
Ruairi, 15, said: “It’s a real honour and a privilege to play for my country. I’m really looking forward to going to Madrid.”
Lewis, 14, added: “I get a lot of help and support from the coaches at the club, and at the Loreburn Hall, and I will work hard to make them all proud.” The boys are a part of the first British team formed since the development of the under-16 programme last year.
Solway Sharks head coach Martin Grubb said: “I’m delighted for Lewis and Ruairi. Their selection is just reward for the hard work they have put in both on and off the ice.
“To represent your county is a tremendous honour, and they will experience a level of hockey they haven’t played before, but they will both have the skills and attitude to excel.”
He added: “It is testament not only to the players, but also to Solway Sharks Junior Ice Hockey Club for helping them realise their potential. Everyone is proud of them, and wishes them the best of luck in Madrid.”
