A FORMER Dumfries woman has scaled Mount Fuji and raised £1000 for a good cause back in her home town.
The efforts of Kate Barr, who now lives in Hong Kong, were in aid of The Usual Place cafe, a spot that’s close to her heart.
Posting on her fundraising page, Kate said: “I have always wanted to climb Mount Fuji and I am finally doing it! It has occurred to me it would be silly to not try and raise money for a good cause in the process.
“The good cause in question I have chosen is The Usual Place. Based in Dumfries. Long story short, I have been blown away by how much the experience benefitted my sister and I observe every time I visit how much it means to these lovely individuals that they are truly being given a chance to feel a part of their community. Establishments like The Usual Place should be norm.”
Thanking her, the team at the Usual Place, said: “What an amazing achievement and such a gesture of support for our work.”
