LOCHMABEN Wombles were in action again on Saturday, this time as part of the Keep Scotland Beautiful, Spring Clean 2025 initiative.
The turnout was impressive with many new faces helping out, including representatives from Dumfries and Galloway Council and Lochmaben Community Council.
The organisers were particularly pleased to have so many young Womble Warriors (under 12s) participating.
The volunteers noticed a great improvement around the four targeted zones since their first outing back in February, with fewer sacks required. Zena Forbes, who organises the Big Picks, has discovered there are a significant number of “shadow Wombles” who go out at times and locations which are more convenient for them.
She said: “Huge thanks to everyone for their support and efforts in making Lochmaben so neat and tidy.”
The next Big Pick is planned for Saturday May 10; further information can be found on the Lochmaben Wombles Facebook page.
