AN EXPANDED programme of engagement is planned as part of the review of maternity services in the west of the region.
An online survey, drop-in sessions, bookable one-to-one sessions and virtual engagement sessions are set to be joined by pop-up stalls in Stranraer and Newton Stewart next month, as work takes place to look at developing a future model for maternity services.
The drops in and bookable sessions will take place on March 7 in Stranraer Library and March 14 in Newton Stewart’s McMillan Hall.
And the pop ups will be in Wigtown High Street on the afternoon of March 17 and then in the centre of Stranraer on March 22.
Meanwhile, a bookable online engagement for those in the Wigtown area will run on March 22 from 9 am to 4 pm, with anyone interested in participating asked to email [email protected].
Leading the review are two independent chairs: NHS Ayrshire and Arran medical director Crawford McGuffie, and NHS Ayrshire and Arran executive nurse director Jennifer Wilson.
They are being supported by midwifery expert Angela Cunningham, a retired associate director for women’s and children’s services..
She said: “I’m very pleased to say that more opportunities are being provided for people to get involved in this review of maternity services in the west of Dumfries and Galloway.
“We appreciate that many people will be giving up their time to contribute to this work, and it’s important that we provide these opportunities and make them as accessible as possible.”
