Marches convenor Stuart Thompson has now been handed the Cumberland Building Society Endeavour Trophy, which is set to be presented on the day.
Mr Thompson said: “It’s the trophy for the individual that demonstrates the most endeavour in this mini Highland Games.”
He added: “The Riding of the Marches afternoon event totally revolves around children’s participation this year, and with that in mind we’re organising junior mini Highland Games activities.
“What we want is as many children as possible to come along and partake.”
He added: “The first prize is going to be £70 plus the Cumberland Building Society Endeavour Trophy.
“The second prize is going to be £20 and a Riding of the Marches medal and the third prize £10 and a medal.”
Keen for children aged up to 15 to get involved in the event at the Annan Academy playing fields on Riding of the Marches Day, July 2, and he suggests adult games might follow in subsequent years.
Mr Thompson says this year’s games will work in tandem with the pipe band competition, and with the Gordon Highlanders set to perform displays.
And he is inviting local charities keen to take out a stall to contact him on 01461 337370 or by emailing [email protected]
The Royal Burgh of Annan Riding of the Marches 2016 programme is now on sale from the usual stockists, priced £2.
And Mr Thompson is keen to thank the editorial team of Don Barty, Neil Wallace, Julie Pepper and Gordon Brown who have assembled this year’s programme.
