SOLWAY Spartans boxer Kyle McGregor will take on an international opponent from Canada in the Newarthill show tonight, Friday.
And head coach Terry Bruton hopes the bout can help his boxer get a national call-up.
Terry said: “This is new ground for Kyle as he takes on another boxer from outwith the country. It’s a first for the club too, it’ll be a great occasion.
“Hopefully we get a good result and it stands him in good stead to get selected for Scotland.”
Meanwhile, Spartans’ Aaron McKinnel won his bout against Sam Telford from Border City at the Nithvalley home show on Easter Sunday.
Aaron won the bout unanimously and was best away boxer after a classy performance.
Aaron has now moved from youth to senior and this was his first bout without a head guard.
Terry said: “We’re really pleased with his performance and there’s certainly a lot more to come from him, we will keep pushing all our boxers on as we have a good stable of talented boxers.”
“Aaron was very well supported on the Nithvalley show, hopefully we can get Aaron back out as soon as possible.”
