LAKE DISTRICT CHALLENGE . . .

IT would appear Dumfries Harriers’ captain Gordon Stewart’s recent marathon was not quite enough distance as he took on a mighty 40 mile point-to-point challenge from Keswick to Barrow in the Lake District on Saturday past.

This was his second year doing the challenge and he took a whopping three hours off last year’s time, crossing the finish line in seven and half hours.

Gordon said: “It was even hotter than last year out there. My recent marathon training was a big factor which really helped me. I actually felt great over the distance.”

He was running for the Cardiac Risk in the Young and the Royal Navy and Marines charities. Donations can be made at: keswick2barrow.co.uk/donate/218999?cid2=218999
