Langholm's big day

JUST about now folk in Langholm will be springing out of bed for the biggest day of the year - The Common Riding.

And no-one will be prouder today than Cornet Simon Tweddle, his right hand-man Jamie Fletcher and left-hand man Dale Irving. The trio are pictured returning from the Castle Craigs rideout this week.

They will lead the cavalcade around the town’s boundaries, including up the infamous Kirk Wynd gallop.

Thousands of people are expected to turn out to take part in the traditional event – and the weather is set to be dry and sunny.
