THERE is one week left to have your say on the latest proposals for the phase 2b northern extension of the High Speed Two (HS2) railway, which includes the construction of an Annandale depot.
If approved, a train stabling facility, maintenance shed and accommodation will be built on an 80 hectare site between Kirkpatrick Fleming and Gretna Green.
It is part of plans to have high speed services join the existing West Coast Mainline from the HS2 track to the south of Wigan and continue journeys north to Lockerbie, Motherwell, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The project is forecast to benefit the Scottish economy by over £5 billion, with the Annandale depot expected to create around 100 permanent jobs.
More information and detailed plans of the phase 2b projects are available at www.hs2.org.uk.
Any questions or objections related to the proposals should be submitted by 11.45pm on Friday, December 11 by phoning the HS2 helpdesk on 08081 434 434 or emailing [email protected].
