Lawman's ticket to success

VETERAN trainer Maurice Lawman maintained his winning ways at Gretna greyhound racing at the weekend winning a 470 metres race with It's A Ticket.

The two-year-old made the most of the good going to win at 2/1 by 1.5 lengths from Dexter Clark’s 5/2 shot Breezer.

Dumfries owner and trainer Murray Aitken notched up another sprint victory with his two-year-old bitch Cara.

She maintained an early lead to win by a length from Hawck-based Kiana.

Meanwhile, Halcrow Stadium racing director Craig Norman is encouraging more local owners to qualify their greyhounds to race at Gretna, one of only a handful of tracks in Scotland and northern England.

Many of the racers competing the border track travel from other parts of the UK to compete. Trials are held most Tuesday nights.
