GRETNA Walking Football team travelled to Penrith on Sunday for the start of their league games. It was a hard day for the team following Saturday’s passing of well known local footballer Tony Power. A minutes round of applause was held in his memory.
On the day the Gretna team won all five of their games. They started with a 3-0 win against Queen of the South, with goals coming from Dek, Mark and Jason. Next up they beat Workington Reds 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mark. Workington Blues were the next opponents. And a 2-1 win, with all three goals from Gretna players Mark, Jason and a Johny scoring an own goal. A brace from Jason saw Gretna claim a 2-0 victory over Carlisle Greens. And they won their final game 2-0 with goals from Dek and Mark.
It was a good day in difficult circumstances, well done to all who participated
