Lesley takes over running of busy port

A NEW manager has been appointed to run Stena Line’s Loch Ryan port.

Lesley Fletcher has taken the helm of the busy Cairnryan terminal after 32 years with the Irish Sea ferry operator.

She has worked in roles throughout the port, including in finance, check-in and as a duty manager.

The mum-of-two, from Stranraer, has now taken day-to-day charge, reporting to Stena Line’s regional port operations manager Andy Kane. Lesley said: “I’m delighted to become port manager at Cairnryan. The port has been such a big part of my life for so many years that it’s a privilege to be leading the team here.

“Loch Ryan Port is a key gateway to Scotland, as well as being one of Dumfries and Galloway’s most significant employers. Hundreds of thousands of passengers use our services to and from Belfast every year.

“The work that our experienced team does here is tremendous. Like me, most of our core port team live within just a few miles of Cairnryan so really do understand the importance of what we do here. I am really looking forward to building on our work together in my new role.”

Welcoming Lesley to her new role, Andy Kane said: “I’ve worked alongside Lesley for many years and know that she’ll do a fantastic job in her new role. The whole team is delighted for her.

“Few people have the experience and understanding that she does of the work that happens day in and day out at Cairnryan. I’m sure Lesley can help us to ensure the port becomes even more successful in the years ahead.”
