Level 0 move delayed

DUMFRIES and Galloway will not move to level 0 Coronavirus restrictions on June 28 as was previously expected, the First Minister has announced.

Speaking earlier today, Nicola Sturgeon said that the region – along with the rest of Scotland – will remain under current restrictions until at least July 19 to “suppress the virus to the lowest possible level and keep it there” whilst progressing the vaccination rollout.

Ms Sturgeon told MSPs it is hoped that major remaining legal restrictions will be lifted on 9 August, however, she added that targeted travel restrictions, hand washing and face coverings will be necessary beyond that date as the Government continues its pandemic response.
