WORK to transform Moffat’s library into a flexible community space is due to begin next month.
The Moffat Town Hall Redevelopment Trust have been working towards the project as part of their plans to take on the town’s library in order to extend its opening hours and use the space for other events.
Earlier this week it was announced that the contractor for the work has sought a start date of April 22, lasting for about four weeks.
During the works a temporary library service will be set up in the Town Hall, Annandale North Cllr Stephen Thomson confirmed this week He said: “A slight temporary change to opening hours, as the Monday 9 am-12 pm session will be moved to a Tuesday afternoon. This is due to an existing booking in the Town Hall which cannot be rearranged.
“The customer service appointments will still be offered, but from a back office in the Town Hall with the trust’s support. Registration Service will not be affected.
“With the works due to commence on the 22nd of April, Dumfries and Galloway Council will look to start the above-mentioned mitigations on the April 14. These temporary mitigations will be in place for a period of four weeks.”
