A MOFFAT landlady will make her Channel 4 TV debut next year.
Owner of the Black Bull Janie Seaton and pub manager Paul Smith have recently completed filming for a new show about working in hospitality.
Describing her recent experience in a post online, Janie said: “A few weeks ago I got a call right out of the blue, it was from a TV company asking if I’d be interested in taking part in a show which would feature the inn.
“They’d read our stories about Black Bull life, seen our website, read reviews and said how they’d laughed at some of the caustic replies levelled at liars, fakers and revenge seekers who try to trip us up.
It seems our online image appealed and intrigued so much, researchers felt they should check us out, and asked if myself and Paul, my manager, would like to do an interview.
“We accepted and it went so well, we were invited to a casting audition via Zoom where we shared stories of hotel life and the personal journeys that led us both to the Black Bull.”
Two days later the duo got a call asking them to sign up for filming in a few weeks.
Janie added: “And so off we went on the experience of a lifetime. And what an experience it was. We met amazing people, made new friends and realised TV is not glam and involves endless repetitive hours in front of a camera.
“We barely slept and the food was rubbish! But regardless, I loved it and am so grateful to have had the opportunity.
“I’ve always wanted to make the inn famous or even infamous. And being involved in this project will help with that.”
It’s not ‘a wrap’, but the show won’t be aired until 2024 so Janie said:
“For now it’s back to normality, so with all the excitement of TV behind us – it’s time to get back into business.”
