Lockerbie and Lochmaben

POWER outages will sweep through certain parts of Lockerbie when overhead lines and poles are upgraded this summer.

The work, which will be carried out by Scottish Power, is set to take about two and a half weeks.

Representatives from Scottish Power met with Lockerbie Community Council on Tuesday to discuss the works later this year.

Power cuts will last from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm and work will be carried out street by street over the course of the two and half weeks.

The community council advised thatadrop-in meeting, held at the town hall, to discuss the works would be useful for townsfolk, particularly the vulnerable residents of the town.

No provisional dates for the work to be carried out were given but it was agreed the summer months would be preferable.

A drop-in meeting should be held within the next few weeks, no dates have been fixed yet.
