Lochmaben Post Office move confirmed

LOCHMABEN’S Post Office counter will move to a new shop from next week.

The kiosk was previously housed in Pettigrew’s high street store until it closed on Friday, September 3.

Owner Doug Pettigrew said the decision to shut up shop came following a “difficult” 18 months of trade caused by the pandemic.

And this week it was confirmed that the outreach service will restart at Costcutter, 4 High Street this Monday (September 20).

A Post Office spokesperson said: “The Postmaster for Galloway Street will continue to operate this service. The opening hours will remain as Monday 2 – 4pm, Wednesday and Friday: 10am – 4pm.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure. In the interim the nearest alternative branch is at Lockerbie.”
