A CHARITY darts competition is taking place in Annan today, inspired by the plight of a local lass.
The singles tournament, at The Shed this afternoon, is in aid of the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow, where Lucy Smith was treated for heart failure and received a transplant earlier this year.
And organisers Ryan Smith and David Vivers are hoping to raise as much as possible with half of every £10 entry fee going to the good cause, as well as a prize raffle with lots up for grabs.
It kicks off at 1.45 pm and there’s a trophy for the winner donated by James Bigham, along with £400 added prize money courtesy of The Shed and a bottle of whisky from Cochrans, who have also given a £200 donation to help with the fundraising.
Lucy, 22, and her family are touched at all the efforts and mum Ashley yesterday said: “Can we say a special thank you to Ryan and David for organising the event, we know it’s no easy task putting something like this together. We hugely appreciate them both giving up their time and efforts to pull off Lucy’s second charity event.
“Also, a big thank you to Steven Ceates for hosting the event.
“Our wee town has been nothing short of amazing and all come together nicely when it’s needed. We are incredibly lucky.”
